Urban Zen and Parsons: D.O.T Haiti
Founded in Haiti in 2015, the Design, Organization, Training Center (D.O.T) brought together Donna Karan, Urban Zen, Parsons School of Design, and Haitian artisan and businesswoman Paula Coles. The initiative connected Haiti’s traditional artisan techniques with contemporary design and opportunities in the global marketplace.
That summer, Parsons and the Urban Zen Foundation launched the Parsons Design Fellowship, selecting four Parsons design students to work with artisans at D.O.T. As one of the fellows, Mochi collaborated with Haitian artisans at the intersection of craft and contemporary design.
